SUMMARY:Global Harmonization System (GHS) For Employers Lunch & Learn
DESCRIPTION:In March of 2012\, OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard underwent some changes that went into effect on May 25\, 2012\, and are very important to workers and their employers. OSHA has restructured the Hazard Communication Standard to include many aspects of the Global Harmonization System (GHS). GHS is a worldwide safety and health program that ensures all employees have standardized information needed to protect themselves from health hazards on the job. \n\n \n\nThis Lunch and Learn session will discuss the changes in the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) to include employer's requirements for training employees to understand labeling\, safety data sheets\, and pictograms required for compliance with GHS standards. Employers are required to have all employees trained by December 1\, 2013\, and this session will provide the information employers need to know in order to meet that requirement. \n\n \n\nThe GHS Lunch and Learn will benefit all employers who are currently required to comply with the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (all employers whose employees use\, manufacture\, or distribute chemicals). We anticipate professionals in Human Resources\, Environmental\, Health\, Safety\, Warehousing\, Facilities Management\, and Plant Managers will find the session most helpful. Participants will leave the session armed with the information needed to remain in compliance with OSHA's new Hazard Communication Standard.
